Job Title: Director Business Development


Reports To: Global Head of Marketing and Sales


Department: Marketing and Sales


Core Responsibilities


The role is predominantly, though not exclusively, focused on sales within Europe with particular emphasis on selling full clinical services. Thus, prospecting and qualifying sales leads will form a major part of the role.  The post holder must be able to “open the door”, but once inside nurture the relationship and expand the service offering within each client.


Principal Accountabilities



  • To review Request for Proposal (RFP) information provided by Customers to ensure adequate information has been received to be able to prepare project proposals and to liaise with internal partners as appropriate

  • Lead the preparation of Global project proposals including costing schedules

  • Attend customer proposal meetings

  • Attend marketing and promotional events

  • Improve effectiveness of the organisation such as developing new processes, systems and sponsor relations

  • Work effectively and efficiently with internal partners in Cmed

  • Secure repeat and new business and penetrate new account areas

  • Liaise and assist in the preparation of project payment schedules

  • Liaise with Finance, Operations and all Business Development Groups as necessary throughout all offices

  • Assist with business development process improvements

  • Ensure that proposal information is accurately recorded on Navision and SalesForce

  • Other broadly analogous tasks as assigned by the Global Head of Marketing and Sales


Essential Work Experience And Qualifications



  • 2 to 3 years of experience working within CRO. Preferably, also experience in clinical drug development

  • Sales and/or account management experience

  • Experience of eDC is an advantage but not essential

  • Degree in life sciences, pharmacy, nursing or nursing qualification (e.g. RN) or equivalent relevant experience

  • Foreign language skills would be advantageous.
